Description
The best just got better. The BioTac SP sensor has all the same sensory modalities as the BioTac, in a single-phalanx design that preserves the articulations of the Shadow Hand.
The Shadow Integration Kit provides the materials required to integrate the BioTac SP with the anthropomorphic Shadow Hand. It includes all materials from SynTouch to be installed onto the Shadow Hand. Please note that existing Shadow Hands require upgrades performed by the Shadow Robot Company to enable sensor data transfer through built in electronics. Newly purchased hands do not require any upgrading and installation can be arranged with Shadow Robot Company.
The electronics in the Shadow Hand have been modified to directly communicate with SynTouch's BioTac SPs. Data can be streamed to the host through newly developed EtherCAT communication protocol and accessed through Willow Garage's ROS software. Upgrading to the BioTac SP sensors will no longer eliminate the passive distal joint in all fingers due to the reduced size of theBioTac SP.
